This blog is intended to document the follies, the conflict and the joys that are associated with raising Ella and Viv. My hope is that one day, they may be able to look back on these entries as thirty-somethings and say, "Maybe my mom gets it". Or perhaps more likely, use as fodder for a comedy sketch, moving autobiography or ammunition in their therapist's office. The intent of this blog is far from an "instructional" or "how to"...but this shoe lace tie toy (Note to self: Must come up with catchier name) that Jer and I made is exceptional. Ella learned in no time and the price was right.

Viv's Celebration

We celebrated with a family airplane party because her cousins were coming in from out of town. Pilot Viv and her crew managed the heat; although the goodie bags at baggage claim may not have.

Birthday Eve

Viv, Two years ago tonight I was walking my swollen belly all around town in order to speed up our meeting. Who would this little girl be? In all honesty, I worried about how this little baby, you, would find a place. Would she get enough of the spotlight? Would she be able to carve her own path? I can imagine that having an older sister can be a tough pill to swallow at times. But as I look in on your crib tonight, your legs and arms finally growing out of your 6-12 month sleeper, all of those worries seem outrageous. You may be just over twenty pounds but you are a leader in this household. You set the tone little girl. Your smile is wider than a billboard...but you don't give it away for free. You are under the third percentile in height and weight but you have managed to find a way out of your crib. Minor facial bruising has not stopped you. I admire your tenacity kid. You are confident, balanced and independent. Selfishly, I am so grateful to have you as my daughter because there is much I know I will learn from you. Happy (almost) second birthday sweet daughter. You are loved beyond belief. Mom

Tan lines, bed head and weather so hot that we're napping in our skivies...

Eyes to the Skies

We woke at 4:45 a.m. to see the sunrise balloon launch. My mom's idea and it was magical.
