Sarah did her hair and even accessorized. Get the camera...document this people! Actually, this was the end of a family photo session we did on Sunday. I had Jerry take some quick snaps of us as I'm usually hiding behind the lens. We're waiting for the proofs of the actual shoot. I think we may have one or two photos where the four of us are in one frame together. I'm not holding my breath. I likely had on my deranged "we paid good money for this Groupon so smile damnit" expression on my face.

He is 8 Feet Tall

My Dad's name is: Jerry He is 7 years old. He is 8 feet tall. He weighs 7 pounds. His favorite tv show is: commercials and baseball (what?). His favorite food is: salad with mac and cheese. His favorite thing to drink is: water. His favorite thing to do is: eat lunch with me. He always sits by me. He likes to wear: "Jerry" shirts. My Dad is REALLY good at: Getting medals. He's really good at racing and sometimes he's not. My favorite thing to do with my Dad is: Watching him get dressed (what? what?) When my Dad goes to work he: Sometimes he goes on a plane. I don't know where he goes. In her card to him she wrote, "I love him the best because he is the biggest". She must be referring to your heart, your laughter and your smile. You are the world to this kid.

A Tribute to Dad

How can I even begin to thank you for all you do for your girls? Yours can be a thankless job at times. But despite your long hours and frequent bouts of jet lag/agency lag/co-worker lag, you find every last ounce of energy in your being to be there for Ella and Viv. I see how you crank up the music and swing the girls in the air despite your headaches. I see how you patiently take the twisted elastic out of tangled summer hair despite the presentations, the editing and the budgets. I know they are way to young to realize it...but you are tremendous. We love you.

A Lazy Sunday Defined

Please don't judge our "frosted fruit rings"! I cringe myself at the sight of that box. They were meant as a tool for Viv to learn her colors. The girls are generally eating a more muted version.

A Hard Stop

Jerry requested a "hard stop" on work this Thursday at 5 p.m. In other words, all meetings came to a halt. He was not available by phone or by email which is a rarity. He was with us. We prepared a celebratory picnic and met him at Millenium Park. The kids were thrilled. I think he was too.

A Weekend of Firsts

It was a weekend of firsts. Glasses and a dance recital. Both brought immense amounts of excitement. I was lucky enough to be a stage hand...yes, I was a "Dance Mom". My job was to double knot laces and make sure Ella's class was in formation before entering stage left. Those moments before they sashayed onto the stage were electric. Stage fright is not something in Ella's vocabulary just yet. She reportedly wants to continue with dance class with the provision that it will be on stage and not at the studio. I was thoroughly impressed with the entire production. Dancers of all age groups performed thoughtful numbers. The choreography was smart and creative. The focus was certainly on artistry (as opposed to technique). A perfect fit for my passionate and energetic little girl. Although we will be taking the summer off from organized activities, I look forward to a return next fall. Please note, photos are certainly abstract. Hoping we can pull it off as intentional. We were trying to capture fluidity and movement my friends.

Sister Solidarity

An astigmatism and ambliopia...our girl (Ella) has glasses. What crushes me is that this is her eyesight and she is only four. We will find out if patching is necessary in the coming weeks. She picked out the purple pair (as seen in above post) and a tortoise shell pair (for Uncle Josh and Auntie Jen's wedding). Viv is sporting a pair from the dollar store. Tinted lenses popped for the ultimate geek chic look. Always supporting sister.
